I’ve eaten in the Taco Bell in the photo above, so it was a surprise to see that it was a casualty of the pandemic in 2020. I was tickled that they’d left the word HUNGRY on the building and nothing else and said to my partner Todd that I wanted to read that apocalyptic short story, and he was like, “Guess you’ll have to write it then, hmm?” So I did.
