Where’s the podcast?

The young woman says, “Where can I find the podcast for your storytelling show?”

And I say, “There is no podcast. When you are in the dark, and one person is standing on stage and you are at a border crossing in Afghanistan, or a taxi trundling down College Street, or reaching out to touch the face of the one you want to grow old with because the person on stage is transporting you to that moment – there are no screens. There is no pause button, no earbuds, no subway announcement. This moment is all that exists. Storytelling is ephemeral and fleeting and yeah, half of it is the storyteller. But half of it is you. Muscles tense, leaning forward, needing nothing more than to know what happens next. Recording the story to tell tomorrow to someone new.”
